Inglis Autumn Yearling Sale Catalogues Out

Catalogues for the 2009 Autumn Yearling Sale, to be held over two sessions at Oaklands from April 26 and 27, are now out and online.

“The Inglis Autumn Yearling Sale has a well earned reputation for rewarding buyers on a budget and in recent times has been the source of a number of Australia’s bargain priced Group 1 winners – each for under $20,000,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.

Pompeii Ruler, the dominant Australian Cup winner and Cox Plate placegetter, South Australian Derby winner Lazer Sharp and WA Derby winner Grand Journey could have been purchased for the total sum of just $36,500.

Collectively, the trio have gone on to win $3million in prizemoney.

The trend continues in 2009. Secret Flyer (Secret Savings) scored one of the season’s most dominant stakes wins when strolling home by 4.5 lengths in the Listed Kensington Stakes. The winner of seven races in 18 starts – with the promise of more to come – is already a $200,000 earner, but cost just $29,000 at the 2005 Autumn Yearling Sale.

Rok Posta, who was purchased for $20,000 from the same sale as Secret Flyer, was rewarded for his consistency when claiming the Listed Chester Manifold Stakes in January. The son of Genuine is the winner of $270,000 in prizemoney.

“Autumn graduates continue to show the rewards are there for those buyers with an eye for a good horse,” Heagney said.

“And I anticipate this year’s sale will produce similar results.”

The catalogue comprises 373 yearlings by a vast array of proven and exciting young stallions, not to mention the who’s who of this season’s First Crop stallions.

The catalogue includes 41 yearlings that are either from stakes performing dams or from a dam that has already produced a stakes winner or placegetter.

Furthermore, no less than 173 of the mares represented in the catalogue were winners themselves and another 168 have already produced winners.

Graduates of this sale are eligible for the $2,500,000 Inglis Race Series, in addition to the $100,000 Autumn Plate, which is restricted to Autumn Yearling Sale graduates only.

The online catalogue can be viewed HERE and the Online bidding and Make an Offer services will be available for those buyers unable to attend the Oaklands complex on April 26 and 27, with the sale to be broadcast via Inglis Sale Day Live.
