Inglis Babies Shine at Caulfield

The form out of the $100,000 Inglis Bonus race a fortnight earlier stacked up strongly when Hot Spin and Jackpot Queen took out the two-year-old double at Caulfield today.

The pair were the first of four winners at the meeting for Inglis graduates.

HOT SPIN ($80,000 2010 Premier, 2g Spinning World-Raging Inferno) joined the growing list of winners in the rich Inglis Race Series when successful at Caulfield a fortnight earlier and the Ellerton-Zahra trained youngster confirmed the merit of that win when proving too good again today.

The Yallambee Stud sold youngster is now the winner of more than $250,000.

A Lion Heart rising two-year-old half-brother to Hot Spin will be offered by Vintage Park Stud at the upcoming Melbourne August Thoroughbred Sale as Lot 160

The August Thoroughbred Sale will be held at Oaklands on August 18 and 19.

JACKPOT QUEEN ($47,000 2010 Classic, 2f Not A Single Doubt-Cash Crazy) was among the beaten division behind Hot Spin last time, with her chances ruined by a wide run in transit. The well-travelled Matthew Dale trained filly enjoyed better fortunes today and fought hard to defy her rivals at the end of the 1000m.

Jackpot Queen has shown a liking for Melbourne, having also won at Flemington, but quite simply she’s given connections a wonderful ride this season, having also posted wins at Randwick’s Kensington track and Wellington.

MASSONI (P$60,000 2009 Premier, 3g Bianconi-Bellonic) was a huge go in early fixed odds betting and justified that support when overpowering last start winner Josimar in the three-year-old.

Tony Noonan seemingly has a smart up and comer on his hands, as Massoni had previously broken his maiden in good style at Cranbourne when having start number two.

PROCIDA ($130,000 2009 Easter, 3f Danehill Dancer-Pace Invader) helped bulk up the Quaddie when scoring an upset win over her three-year-old filly rivals in the seventh event.

The Tyreel Stud graduate relished the drop back to 1400m and finished strongly to win well.

In Sydney, the big $100,000 Bonus failed to go off when eligible graduates filled the minor placings behind first up winner Florentina.

It is the first time a bonus has failed to be won in almost 12 months, with $150,000 in bonuses already paid out this month.

The next opportunity to win a Bonus in the Inglis Race Series comes up for the new season three-year-olds at Seymour on August 21.
