Dale Set To Swoop On Winter Riches

Matt Dale’s Fell Swoop (Not A Single Doubt x Touched In Flight) has the headline races of the Brisbane Winter Carnival firmly in his sights after a convincing victory in today’s $200,000 Group 2 BRC Victory Stakes over 1200m, in which he took his earnings past $1 million.

Fell swoop was a $45,000 buy for his trainer from the Dartbrook Downs draft at the 2013 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, already a dual-Group 1 place-getter, he has won nine of 14 career starts.

Dale said starts in the Group 1 BTC Cup and the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 were on the cards, while the $1.5 million Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap was also a possibility.

Other stakeswinners today sold by Inglis were Spill The Beans, Howard Be Thy Name and Nancy, while Swear took out the juvenile contest at Hawkesbury.

Spill The Beans (Snitzel x Miss Dodwell) joined fellow Inglis graduates Chautauqua and Alverta to win the $200,000 Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas over 1400m.

It is the second win at this level for the Gerald Ryan-trained colt, which was reserved for $60,000 when offered from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2014 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, and he has taken his earnings past $360,000 with today’s win. The colt will be aimed at the $400,000 Inglis Guineas in a fortnight.

Howard Be Thy Name (Redoute’s Choice x Bellini Rose) claimed his third straight win when he bolted in to win the $120,000 Group 3 SAJC Chairman’s Stakes over 2020m.

The Darren Weir-trained three-year-old was reserved at $250,000 when offered from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2014 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, and has since never been out of the placings and has won four of his ten career starts.

$65,000 Inglis Easter purchase Nancy (Big Brown x Shalimar Sky) stormed home to claim the $170,000 Group 3 Hawkesbury RC Godolphin Crown over 1300m for Peter and Paul Snowden, taking her earnings past $230,000.

Nancy was purchased by Lex Kingdom from the Fairview Park Stud draft at the 2013 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, and has won four and placed in four of ten starts.

Earlier in the day, two-year-old colt Swear (Redoute's Choice x Crossyourheart) showed his class coming from last to win the $120,000 Hawkesbury RC Claret 2YO Stakes over 1300m.

Now trained by Team Hawkes, the colt was a $725,000 purchase for Spendthrift Australia from the Tyreel Stud draft at the 2015 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

The 2016 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will commence at 10am tomorrow 1 May, and continue through Wednesday 4 May. Safe, the dam of a Godolphin three-year-old winner at Caulfield, Unbreakable, will be offered by Swettenham Stud as Lot 479. For a full list of pedigree updates visit inglis.com.au
