The success realised in the first Session of the 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale has continued into Session II today, resulting in new record average, gross and clearance rate recorded in Melbourne.

115 lots sold during Session II grossing a record $3,680,500. The $32,004 record average demonstrated a 4% increase and the median also rose 4% to $26,000 from last year’s sale. Today’s clearance rate was a record 80%.

The gross for the 2015 Inglis Premier Sale as a whole is up to a record $48,651,000 for 584 yearlings sold at an overall clearance rate of 83%.

“It is great to be a part of the sale that is at the forefront of the Thoroughbred industry in Victoria,“ said Inglis Victorian Director Peter Heagney.

“We couldn’t be more pleased about the records set by Premier, and the rewards it has given to those vendors who have supported the sale,” Heagney said.

Two Lots reached the top price for Session II of $100,000. A filly from Grange Thoroughbreds, Lot 660 by Hinchinbrook out of Dashoff, and Lot 724 from Three Bridges Thoroughbreds, a colt by Stryker from the Pivotal mare Pintle.

22 Lots by 17 different sires sold for $50,000 or more today, including the progeny of Victorian based stallions Wanted, Master Of Design, Bel Esprit, Skilled, Turffontein, Moshe and Reward For Effort.

Victorians dominated the bidding today making up 68% of the buying bench. Leading the buyers’ table is Champion trainer Darren Weir in conjunction with John Foote Bloodstock, having outlaid $371,000 for 8 Lots in Session II. Other trainers who were busy today included Tony McEvoy of McEvoy Mitchell Racing, Luke Oliver and Henry Dwyer.

Leading Session II vendors by both average and aggregate are Swettenham Stud who sold 11 of 14 Lots offered for $284,000, followed closely by Glenelg Park and Rosemont Stud.

Winners of the Best Presented Draft, Henley Park, cleared six from seven Lots offered across both Sessions averaging $154,166.
