Satin Shoes Could Be Plated In Gold

*Racing And Sports - Saturday, 16 October 2010:

Impressive filly Satin Shoes showed she was worth every cent of her $700,000 purchase price when she announced herself as a potential topliner with her debut win in the City Tattersalls Plate at Randwick on Saturday.

The 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Sale product by Flying Spur-Star Satire raced greenly in the final stages but still proved too strong in getting the better of fellow Easter graduate Anevay.

Sold by Cressfield and purchased by De Burgh Equine, the Clarry Conners trained Satin Shoes is from Star Satire, who was the top rated filly in New Zealand in 2000-01.

A daughter of Volksraad, Star Satire was a Group 1 winner and at stud has already produced the dual Group 2 winner Zarzuela.

Her trainer Clarry Conners is already eyeing off a fifth Golden Slipper win in April.

Conners said Satin Shoes would be spelled with the rich autumn races in mind.

“She will go out now and come back for the autumn races and the Slipper," Conners said.

"She is only in her first preparation. She took longer to come in from the breakers and it's pretty good to see her win like that.

"She is a very nice horse in the making."

It's been a good week for Flying Spur fillies, with a pair of 3YOs also posting city wins on Wednesday.

Spurcific (ex Exact by Marauding) broke her maiden in rewarding fashion at Caulfield, adding a $100,000 Inglis bonus to her $42,700 prizemoney; and 3YO Miss Midas (ex Bright Gleam by Jugah) made it 2-for-2 at Warwick Farm.
