Swan Song for Weir

Daily Telegraph - Ray Thomas - Saturday, 11 June 2016

TRAINER Darren Weir passed another milestone in a momentous season when he cracked the 300-win barrier when Yulong Yongxing scored in a two-year-old maiden at Swan Hill on Saturday.

Weir, who prepared Prince Of Penzance to win the Melbourne Cup last November, becomes the first trainer to reach the magical figure since John Hawkes set the commonwealth record of 334 wins in 2002-03.

With two months of the season remaining, Weir has a real chance to break that.
