Leading Sports and Racing Journalist Peter Fitzgerald to bolster Inglis Team

Inglis is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Fitzgerald to a new role as Head of Communications and Public Relations.

Peter comes from a strong media and horse racing background, having spent the past 14 years as a sports journalist and editor at some of Australia’s leading newspapers.

He has most recently been the deputy sports editor of The Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, a role he started in 2010 that has seen him manage some of the nation’s most senior media personalities.

Prior to that he was sports editor at The Illawarra Mercury in Wollongong (2010-2013) and before that was a sports journalist at The Canberra Times (2002-2010).

He has spent eight of those years as a racing journalist.

Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster was thrilled to welcome Peter to the company.

"Peter has proven during his more than 14 years in the media to be a well-respected and well-credentialed journalist and we’re very much looking forward to him joining us at Inglis as we look to take the company into the future," Webster said.

"We searched far and wide to find somebody with the respect in the media, knowledge of the racing and bloodstock industries and who has the people skills to bring this role to life, and I believe Peter is the ideal candidate.

"I’m looking forward to working with him and believe his professional skills and personal qualities will complement our existing team perfectly."

Peter, 33, is excited about the prospect of working for the Australasian bloodstock industry’s oldest and largest auctioneer.

"Inglis is a company rich in history surrounded by some of the most knowledgeable and respected people in the racing game,"’ he said.

"There are so many exciting opportunities ahead for Inglis both in Australia and abroad and I’m excited to be able to play a role in those and work with a great bunch of people.

"I love racing and I love working with people, so to be able to combine those two passions in one job is a dream come true.’"

Peter will start at Inglis on 30 August 2016.
