Mare in foal to Zabeel tops Great Southern Broodmare

Well-bred young mare Streghetta topped today’s Great Southern Broodmare Sale when selling to Morning Rise Stud for $190,000.

Streghetta is a full-sister to the stakes winners Lucky Diva (pictured) and Gina Lollawitcha and a half-sister to stakes winners Spirit Of Westbury and Duke Of Westbury. She was offered in foal to the Champion Cambridge Stud stallion Zabeel.

She was one of three mares to top the $100,000 mark during the Broodmare sale.

Red Ransom mare Ransom Claim sold late in the day to Patinack Farm for $100,000, carrying a positive test to top first season sire Starcraft.

Lady Madeleine made $100,000 at yesterday’s opening session.

“It was pleasing to see the better quality mares sell well and there was some good value buying in amongst them,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.

In all, the two day Broodmare section of this sale grossed more than $2million.

The sale will conclude tomorrow with the General Session.

Highlighting the final day are the well bred fillies and a number of geldings with disclosed race form in the Racehorse section.

Selling will commence at 11am.

Horses passed in over the past four days of the Great Southern Sale are still available for sale via the Inglis Make an Offer service.
