Moody’s Three-Olds Aim up

Celebrating Group 1 success with his glamour mare Typhoon Tracy, Peter Moody added some icing to the cake with a two-state stakes double with his burgeoning three-year-old team.

MASTER HARRY ($100,000 2009 Classic, 3c Magic Albert-Sri Lanka) returned to the form that had many rating him one of Australia’s best two-year-olds last season when winning the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes.

Sold by Kanangra Stud, Master Harry won in quick time at Flemington last March but failed at his lone spring run on a wet track.

Moody applied the winkers for his first run in the reverse direction today and Master Harry fought on doggedly to beat fellow Inglis graduate AUDACIOUS SPIRIT ($70,000 2009 Premier, 3c Bel Esprit-Roskeel) in a blanket finish.

Nominatons for this year’s Scone Sale feature a Tiger Hill half-sister to Master Harry, while the Melbourne Premier Sale boasts a full brother to Audacious Spirit.

In Melbourne, Moody’s former talented two-year-old MISS GAI FLYER ($250,000 2009 Easter, 3f Flying Spur-Power Of One) returned to her best form when winning the Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes.

Miss Gai Flyer wasn’t at home on two wet tracks during the spring, but today showed the kind of form that had her Group 2 placed last year.

Torryburn Stud have a Rock Of Gibraltar sibling to Miss Gai Flyer in this month’s Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

Another Easter graduate also returned to her best form today. SISTER MADLY (P$775,000 2008 Easter, 4m Redoute’s Choice-Jade Tiara) was competitive with all of the best sprinters during her three-year-old season but just failed to crack it for a win.

But the half-sister to Hong Kong legend Silent Witness rediscovered winning form when pitted against the boys in today’s Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes.

Bred and retained to race by Edinburgh Park Stud, she is now among the most sought after broodmares in the country.
