Talented three-year-old filly Mosheen broke through for her much deserved maiden Group 1 win today with a dominant display in the 151st running of the VRC Oaks (2500m).

Taken straight to the front and rated well by jockey Danny Nikolic MOSHEEN ($250,000 2010 Easter, 3f Fastnet Rock-Sumehra) never gave any of her opposition a look in down the Flemington straight, showing a superior turn-of-foot to run away to a nine length victory in the $1million classic, stopping the clock a second faster than Saturday’s G1 VRC Derby winning time.

“She just played with them. There was no way they were going to beat her from the 600m inwards, I knew what type of turn of foot she has”, said Nikolic.

Second behind Sepoy in the Golden Slipper as a two-year-old, the daughter of Fastnet Rock, became her sire’s seventh individual Group 1 winner and the fifth to be purchased from the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, joining Wanted, Irish Lights, Rock Classic and Speed Baby.

From the family of champion stayer Might And Power, Mosheen continued the great record of Inglis fillies in the VRC Oaks, becoming the sixth Inglis graduate to win the event since 2004: Faint Perfume (09’), Samantha Miss (08'), Miss Finland (06'), Serenade Rose (05') and Hollow Bullet (04’).

Mosheen was purchased from the draft of Bylong Park Thoroughbreds at Easter for $250,000 and has now won over $1.5million in prizemoney from her three wins and four placings from just nine career starts.

Bylong Park Thoroughbreds will offer Mosheen’s half-brother by Zabeel for sale amongst their draft of eight, which also includes a brother to Group 3 winner Psychologist, at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney next April 10 to 12.

Mosheen’s dam Sumehra (by Stravinsky) foaled a colt by Flying Spur this spring, and will be covered by Fastnet Rock tomorrow.

Other Inglis stakes winners today included:-

Top quality racemare ORTENSIA ($50,000 2007 Premier, 6m Testa Rosaa-Aerate’s Pick) proved a class above her opposition down the Flemington straight, strolling away with the Listed G.H. Mumm Stakes (1100m) for new trainer Paul Messara.

The $1.2million earner will be aimed at some Group 1 sprints in New Zealand over the summer such as the Railway and Telegraph Handicaps.

“She was all class today. She hit the front a long way from home. We couldn't be happier with today," said Messara after the win.

PROLIFERATE (P$190,000 2010 Easter, 3c More Than Ready-Grand Prospect) rewarded his trainer Mick Price’s big opinion of the colt, by notching up his third win from as many starts in the Listed Myer Spring Fashion Stakes (1800m).

A half-brother to G1 WATC Derby winner Grand Journey, Proliferate made his debut just five weeks ago at Geelong and the son of More Than Ready looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
