MVRC STAGE INGLIS JUVENILE ON COX PLATE DAY

23rd Jan 2008

William Inglis & Son Limited and the Moonee Valley Racing Club have announced the running of the $250,000 MVRC Inglis Juvenile for two-year-olds (1000m) at Moonee Valley on 2008 Tattersalls Cox Plate day.

The MVRC Inglis Juvenile will be the first in the $2.5 million Inglis race series that runs from October 2008 through until May 2010 for graduates of 2008 Inglis yearling sales. The series will incorporate over 20 races in New South Wales and Victoria including $100,000 Saturday metropolitan bonuses in Melbourne and Sydney spanning from January to December of 2009. Horses sold at Inglis yearling sales are eligible for the series and there is a $50,000 bonus for the trainer that wins the most series races.

“We are delighted to be able to commence our race series at Moonee Valley, particularly on such a prestigious day of racing as the Tattersall’s Cox Plate,” says William Inglis Director and Auctioneer, Peter Heagney.

The MVRC Inglis Juvenile will showcase the quality of Inglis sold two-year-olds. “It’s a fact that since 2004, Inglis has been the only auction house to sell a future Group One winning juvenile in Australia and already this season we’ve seen high-class two-year-olds like Exceedingly Good, De Lightning Ridge and Burgeis who are the top three in Blue Diamond betting.” Heagney says.

The Moonee Valley Racing Club is thrilled to be part of this innovative race series.

MVRC CEO John Cameron said; “We are always looking at ways to boost our Tattersall’s Cox Plate day program and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to be able to lift the focus on races other than our signature event.”

“We already have a great association with Inglis and we are very pleased to be able to work with them on this initiative.”

The Inglis series of 2008 yearling sales commences with the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale at Oaklands Junction over four days from March 2. Details of horses can be viewed online at www.inglis.com.au.
