New Inglis International Group 1 Winner

Redoute's Choice colt Musir became the latest Inglis graduate to enjoy success on the international stage when he dominated the Group 1 Golden Horseshoe (1400m) in South Africa overnight.

MUSIR (P$900,000 2008 Easter, 2c Redoute's Choice-Dizzy De Lago) joins Anabaa colt Le Drakkar ($155,000 Melbourne Premier) as an Inglis graduate to win at Group 1 level in South Africa this season.

In addition to the 24 Group 1 races won on Australian soil, Inglis graduates to have won Group 1 races on the international stage this season also include Sacred Kingdom, Inspiration and Tell A Tale.

Offered for sale by Coolmore Stud, Musir is the first Group 1 winner bred from a mare by reigning Australian Champion Sire Encosta De Lago, being from the stakes placed Dizzy De Lago.

The Mike de Kock trained youngster is now the winner of two races in three outings and in winning by a big margin, he turned the tables on fellow Easter graduate Solid Choice (Redoute's Choice), who ran fourth in last night's race.

Musir becomes the 15th individual Group 1 winner for Arrowfield Stud's Redoute's Choice and the South African success completed an excellent day for the Scone based farm.

The stud's colours were to the fore at Eagle Farm, where Paul Messara saddled up two Inglis graduates that are in line for bigger targets next season.

Glentree Downs graduate BATTLEFIELD ($300,000 2007 Premier, 3g Choisir-Charming Charge) completed a rapid rise to stakes grade when he overcame a chequered passage to land the Listed Ascot Handicap (1200m).

Now the winner of four races in just six starts, Battlefield will next go to the Grafton Ramornie (LR) before Messara sets his sights on some of the feature sprints during the Melbourne Spring Carnival.

Earlier, promising filly SAVOIA ($280,000 2008 Easter, 2f Charge Forward-Dowry) produced an eye-catching finish in winning over 1400m.

Bred by Paul Makin's Paulyn Investments and offered for sale through the Bellerive Stud draft, Savoia is a daughter of the G1 South Australian Oaks winner Dowry.

Messara hopes Savoia can develop into an Oaks filly herself next season and he has a long range plan to tackle either the Sydney autumn or Brisbane winter carnivals.
