New Look Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale To Turn Heads In May

There is a new date and format to headline Australia's thoroughbred breeding stock sales, with the modern streamlined Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale to be conducted in Sydney on 4, 5, 6 and 7 May 2014.

"Buyers and vendors indicated in our client survey and in the field discussions that they wanted a break after the Australian Easter Yearling Sale and a combined feature Broodmare and Weanling Sale, so that is what we are delivering to our customers," said Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D'Arcy.

24 days after the Easter Yearling Sale, the new Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale will give race filly owners the chance to sell their prized horses after the Sydney Carnival and breeders the chance to sell broodmares and weanlings First, Fast and Together for Better.

FIRST: Early entries point to the Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale quickly cementing its position as not only the first place for buyers, but the most important breeding stock sale of the year in Australasia.

First Season Sires will be very well represented. Sires of weanlings already entered include Sepoy, So You Think, Smart Missile and Foxwedge. Broodmares in foal to Frankel, Pierro and All Too Hard are also committed to the new sale.

FAST: Vendor proceeds will be paid by 18 June, a great help to breeders with stallion fees due in the current financial year.

TOGETHER: Broodmares and Weanlings will be offered over four days in one place at one convenient time.

BETTER: Inglis will still offer the best commission rates in Australia in addition to a new Family Deal where breeders who sell their broodmare will get free entry for the weanling from the same mare – a saving of up to A$1,100.

"We are very excited to be able to tailor everything about the new Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale to maximise the needs of both vendors and buyers," D’Arcy adds.

The sale will see the weanlings offered first with Select and General Sessions. This will be followed by the broodmares in a Select and General Session format as well as a separate section for race fillies and mares off the track. Entries close on Friday 7 March.
