Online Auction of Stallion Nominations for Fire and Flood Victims

Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster today announced plans to conduct an online auction of donated stallion nominations to raise funds for the victims of the Victorian bushfires and Queensland floods. The auction, to be held in conjunction with Project Hope Horse Welfare Victoria (PHHWV) and with the support of NSW based volunteers Heather Studdy, Yatama Stud and Tristan Bryan, Meridian Estate Warmblood Stud, will be held online at www.inglis.com.au from April 20-24. Over 400 stallion nominations or services from at least 26 horse breeds have already been offered in a united effort from the equine industry to support their own community in troubled times.

“Stallion owners Tristan Bryan and Heather Studdy are to be commended for initiating this auction on Eques Online Horse Magazine, to help the entire equine community that have suffered in the fires and floods. The money raised will be used to assist with the welfare of horses and their owners. Many owners are unable to feed their horses with barren or drenched paddocks, many no longer have facilities to maintain the safety of their horses and others require expensive ongoing medical treatment. I encourage every owner of a registered stallion regardless of breed to donate a nomination for the 2009 breeding season. This is a great opportunity for all horse lovers to unite for a worthy cause. Our goal is to raise at least $1m,” commented Mark Webster.

Planning for this auction has been underway for several weeks and offers of donations from stallion owners have been rolling in. The majority of the 400 offered so far are from pleasure and performance breeds noting this is where the idea started, including large numbers of Warmbloods, Arabians, Welsh Ponies, Quarter Horses and Minatures. Nominations for Thoroughbred and Standardbred stallions have started rolling in over the past few days as news of this auction is spreading.

To donate a thoroughbred stallion nomination please contact James Price from Inglis on 02 9399 7999 or email james@inglis.com.au . To nominate for all other breeds please contact Tristan Bryan on 0409 600 548 or email meridianestate@hotmail.com

Donations of stallion nominations will close on March 20. The donated stallion nominations will be displayed on www.ffstallionserviceauction.com as they roll in and auction website will be available at www.inglis.com.au from April 13, with the auction commencing on April 20. Details of the bidding process will be released closer to the sale.
