Partnership Dispute - <br> Easter Quality Yearlings for Sale at the Christmas Thoroughbred Sale

15th Nov 2006

Friday 8th December will see buyers last opportunity in 2006 to lay their hands on quality bloodstock when William Inglis & Son have their final sale of the year, the Christmas Thoroughbred Sale. Commencing at 10am at Newmarket, the highlight of the sale will see an outstanding offering of both broodmares and yearlings on behalf of the owners to dissolve a partnership.

Lot 67 will see the lightly raced Zabeel mare Zaloot (NZ) offered with a filly foal at foot by Coolmore Stud’s multiple Gr 1 winning son of Sadler's Wells (IRE) in Galileo (IRE). Also recently served by the globetrotting Starcraft (NZ), the mare is from the Gr 2 winning Danehill (USA) mare Cashier, making her a half-sister to the AJC Royal Sovereign S. (Gr 2) winner, Flying Pegasus.

Curvaceous, another well-bred Zabeel (NZ) mare will be the very next offering through the ring as Lot 68. Currently in foal to Coolmore’s exciting Gr 1 winning stallion prospect Fastnet Rock, the mare is expected to have foaled by sale time and will be offered with the Fastnet Rock foal at foot. Curvaceous has had 2 foals to race, with Swissac (f by Secret Savings (USA)) running a creditable 4th in the recent Gr 1 MRC 1000 Guineas behind Miss Finland.

Entering the ring as Lot 118, is a bay colt from the stakes winning, stakes producing Danehill (USA) mare, Cashier. An August foal by leading sire Encosta de Lago, this colt has been accepted for the 2007 William Inglis & Son Easter Yearling Sale. Therefore the purchaser has the option of offering the half-brother to Flying Pegasus at the world-renowned Easter Yearling Sale.

The proceeding 3 lots, 119, 120 and 121 also form part of the above mentioned sale of quality bloodstock. Lot 119 an Encosta de Lago filly, from the above mentioned Zabeel (NZ) mare Curvaceous has also been accepted for the 2007 William Inglis & Son Easter Yearling Sale. From a pedigree laden with black type performers including the Champion 2YO of New Zealand from a few seasons ago in Grout, along with the Melbourne Cup winning grey, Subzero.

Lot 120 will see a bay filly by Danehill Dancer (IRE) out of Zabeel (NZ) mare Zaloot (NZ), herself a half-sister to Flying Pegasus. This filly has also been accepted for the 2007 William Inglis & Son Easter Yearling Sale. Being the first foal from the mare, there will be much competition for the filly based on the fact she is bred on the successful Danehill (USA)/Zabeel (NZ) cross that has produced many top class performers such as triple Gr 1 winner Darci Brahma (NZ) and Fast ‘N’ Famous, while Champion Hong Kong Stayer Vengeance of Rain (NZ) and Dizelle (NZ) are bred on the reverse cross.

While 2007 will give buyers the opportunity to purchase yearling stock of Arrowfield’s eight-time Gr 1 winning stallion, Falbrav (IRE). The Christmas Thoroughbred Sale will give buyers that very same opportunity, with a very well-bred bay colt by the son of Fairy King (USA) from Dancing Shower, herself a Thunder Gulch (USA) half-sister to Gr 2 winning Danehill (USA) mare Cashier, which will be offered as Lot 121.

An extensive catalogue of 237 lots make up the main catalogue for the sale, with a further supplementary catalogue open for entries until December 1st. Extensive broodmare offerings from Kendel Park Stud, River Hills Stud and Ilala Stud will give buyers the chance to purchase quality mares in foal to Beautiful Crown (USA), Catbird, Exceed And Excel, Fastnet Rock and Starcraft (NZ). Two stallions sure to attract attention will be the Gr 2 winning Langfuhr stallion, Frightening, as well as Sedaka, a half-brother by Danehill (USA) to multiple Gr 1 winner Lonhro, the sire of recent Perth Listed winner, Daka’s Gem.

Catalogues are now available both online at www.inglis.com.au and by contacting the Sydney office on (02) 9399 7999. Supplementary catalogues will be available on the day of the sale.
