Perfect Drop For Easter Broodmare Sale

17th Apr 2008

Dual Group 1 placed mare Perfect Drop is an exciting addition to the 2008 William Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale catalogue.

PERFECT DROP ($85,000 2005 Easter, Quest For Fame-Dane Vintage) ran a close second in last year’s G1 AJC Australian Oaks and trained on as a four-year-old when running second to fellow Easter graduate Forensics in this month’s G1 Queen of the Turf Stakes.

The Guy Walter trained mare looked set for big race success this campaign, but injured her off fore tendon during trackwork on Tuesday.

“Guy had geared everything towards the Queen of the Turf and Doncaster and it’s very disappointing to lose her when we did,” Part-owner Simon O’Donnell said.

“We’re racing people and hence she’s going to the Broodmare Sale, but someone’s going to buy themselves a lovely mare.

“She’s a great type - one of those mares that always catches your eye.

“From a breeding perspective, she has everything you want - just like she did as a racehorse.”

Perfect Drop is from the family of Group 1 winners Triscay, Defier and La Baraka.

The mare will be sold immediately prior to the Swettenham Stud Dispersal on Sunday May 4.

The three day Broodmare Sale has also been boosted with two filly foals by star Danehill stallions Flying Spur and Fastnet Rock.

LOT 246, the Snippets mare FOIL, a half-sister to G1 winner Sword, will be offered with her Flying Spur filly foal at foot.

LOT 505, the Dolphin Street mare STREET WALK, who is from the family of Golden Slipper winner Marauding, will be offered with a filly foal by exciting first season stallion Fastnet Rock.

The William Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale runs from May 4-6.
