Polar Success Sister Beats Handy Field At Sandown

Racing And Sports - Wednesday, 13 May 2009

Polar Success is scheduled to be sold at next month's Inglis Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale and the family looks to have another impressive type in the shape of today's impressive Sandown winner Eau De Joie.

The David Hayes trained filly was resuming from a spell today and sat back off the speed before finishing far too strongly in the 1200m 3YO Rating 72 event.

Today's field looked to have some depth to it, as it included impressive last start winners Nonchalance and Cascabel, with the latter having accounted for impressive subsequent Flemington winner Testaguy at his previous outing.

Eau De Joie is by Encosta De Lago from the stakes placed Covetous mare Patou, which makes her a half-sister to the 2003 G1 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success (Success Express).

The Gerry Harvey owned and bred filly had won just one of eight prior to today, but would appear to have resumed a superior filly this time in work.

Harvey's Baramul Stud offered a full-brother to Eau De Joie at this year's Magic Millions, which was passed in at $240,000 (reserve $250,000).

Patou is a half-sister to Icecapade, the dam of multiple Listed winner and G1 placed Ain't Seen Nothin'.

Polar Success has produced the stakes placed Polaway (Giant's Causeway) since retiring to stud and she will be sold as part of the Johnson Family Dispersal at the Inglis AWBS Sale next month.

This sale will also include two half-sisters to Makybe Diva, who are being sold as part of Tony Santic's annual reduction.

A Zabeel filly from Polar Success sold to Danny O'Brien for $300,000 at this year's Inglis Easter Sale, which followed a Redoute's Choice filly from the mare selling for $460,000 in 2008.
