Premier, Easter Updates Rolling In

Today’s racing provided some important pedigree updates for the upcoming Melbourne Premier and Australian Easter Yearling Sales.

Regally-bred filly One Last Dance (Encosta De Lago-One World, by Danehill) franked her Blue Diamond credentials and remained in the running for a $1million Patinack Farm bonus when again overcoming a wide alley to win the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude.

The John Camilleri raced filly is now unbeaten in three starts heading into the Group 1 Blue Diamond.

Coolmore Stud have a Hussonet half-brother catalogued as LOT 384 at Easter. The colt’s dam One World was a Group 3 winner herself and is from the great family of Royal Academy and Storm Cat.

Mark Kavanagh's top sprinter Catapulted (Catbird-Siren Miss) returned to winning form today when taking the Group 3 Rubiton Stakes, further enhancing the pedigree of a Fastnet Rock three-quarter-sister to be offered by Mill Park as LOT 52 at Easter. Catapulted is now the winner of 10 races, including five at stakes level.

The 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be held in Sydney from April 5-7.

Easter graduate Miss Gai Flyer (Flying Spur-Power Of One, by Gilded Time) proved her spring form a lie when returning to her best in the Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes. The Peter Moody trained filly was Group 2 placed last season.

Torryburn Stud will offer a three-quarter brother to Miss Gai Flyer as LOT 196 at the Melbourne Premier Sale. The colt is by Rock Of Gibraltar from the family of Golden Slipper winner Ha Ha.

Ortensia (Testa Rossa-Aerate’s Pick, by Picnicker) added further to her impressive CV when running third in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes. The Tony Noonan trained mare is a multiple Group 2 winner and this was her third Group 1 placing.

Yallambee Stud will offer a God’s Own half sister as LOT 377 at Melbourne Premier. Additionally, Widden Stud have a three-quarter-sister to Ortensia catalogued as LOT 7 at the sale. The filly is by Testa Rossa from Aerate Pick’s multiple winning daughter Glogirl (by General Nediym).

The Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes in Sydney also provided a notable Premier update via the gallant runner-up Audacious Spirit.

Audacious Spirit, himself a $70,000 graduate of the showpiece Oaklands Sale, has a full-brother to be offered by Eliza Park as LOT 236.

The 2011 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale will be held at Oaklands from February 28 to March 3.
