Stallions - Michelle Cullen - Thursday, 24 February 2011

The 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling sale is just five days away and many of the vendors have arrived at the sales complex in Melbourne.

Already many overseas and local bloodstock agents and trainers have paid a visit to the complex and begun their inspections in their search for the next Weekend Hussler, Rostova, Reward for Effort, Black Caviar, Sacred Kingdom, Starspangledbanner or Turffontein.

Some feedback from a few of the vendors from the parades today:-

Barn G – Eliza Park Stud, Mark Lindsay

“We have had about 400 parades today!

“Finally we’ve had a bit of luck – we’ve got the country’s leading freshman stallion (Written Tycoon) and our young stallion, Magnus, topped the Sydney Classic sale. I cannot remember the last time a Victorian stallion topped a NSW sale.

“I’m really buoyed by the news that the hotel bookings are up 30% and if we sell all 54 yearlings I’ll be thrilled.”

Barn F – Lindsay Park Stud, David Bourke

“We have bought half-a-dozen yearlings across on Sunday and I’m happy to tell you they have all settled in well.

“We have had plenty of Bloodstock Agents and a good number of the local trainers around inspecting.”

“Our fillies by Good Journey are a good example of his stock and we have a half-sister to Masthead – the winner of the Inglis Premier race last week – and she’s a precocious type.”

“I expect our Danehill Dancer colt (lot 153) to have many more parades he’s so strong and the dam has had plenty of stakes success.”

Barn H – Bowness Stud, John North

“All eight yearlings have settled in well and there has been a constant stream of people here all day looking at them.”

Barn B – Anderson Bloodstock, Katrina Wood.

“We have just arrived in at Oaklands this afternoon and we have just put them to bed for the night.”

“All our yearlings travelled well to Oaklands ……. I’m so pleasantly surprised at the mood and just how busy the complex is…. and it’s only Wednesday!”
