Secluded one to watch

Breednet - Tara Madgwick - Sunday, 6 May 2012

When you take a maiden to Newcastle, you'd like to think you'd be taking on lesser opposition, so rival trainers would not have been thrilled to be lining up on Saturday against the half-sister to Group I star Melito.

Paul Messara sent out three year-old Hussonet (USA) filly Secluded, a half-sister to dual Group I winner and $1.9 million earner Melito in the 1200 metre maiden and she duly scored by half a length at her second start.

A $525,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Reavill Farm draft, Secluded (pictured as a yearling) is the sixth winner from six foals to race for stakes-winning Marauding mare Cloister, who was passed in shy of her $700,000 reserve at the recent Inglis Broodmare Sale in Sydney.
