Sibling to dominant Challenge winner to sell on Sunday

Fusaichi Pegasus youngster Okane let down in the style of a very good horse when dominating today’s $100,000 Inglis Challenge, highlighting a half-brother for sale on Sunday.

OKANE ($30,000 2009 Scone, 2g Fusaichi Pegasus-Lyn’s Money) ambled up to his rivals soon after turning and with a brilliant turn of foot, turned the 1300m event into a procession, winning by four lengths on the line.

Runner-up Zedi Warrior ($14,000) and third placed Jidaroce ($6500) also recouped more than their purchase price with today’s earnings.

Okane was secured from the draft of Middlebrook Valley by trainer Rodney Northam for $30,000. He has improved in each of his four runs to date and relished the step up to 1300m today.

Middlebrook Valley will offer an Oratorio (Ire) half-sister to Okane as Lot 387 at Sunday’s concluding session to this year’s Scone Select Yearling Sale.

The filly is the second foal from Lyn’s Money (by Humam), a winner of eight races. Okane is the first foal to race from the mare, who has since produced a Choisir colt before her premature death last year.

Sunday’s session begins from 10.30am and the online catalogue can be viewed HERE

Horses passed in during the opening session are still available for sale via the Inglis Make an Offer service.
