Smart Debut Win for Fastnet Rock Colt

Breednet - Tara Madgwick - Wednesday, 9 October 2013

No trainer likes to get stuck with a $250,000 yearling, but in this case it might be a blessing in disguise.

The Anthony Cummings stable produced a promising debut winner at Warwick Farm on Wednesday when three year-old Fastnet Rock colt Forget Maybe kicked off his career with a stylish victory.

Allowed to find his feet early, Forget Maybe chimed in with a well-timed finish for Peter Robl to beat another well-bred Fastnet Rock colt in Dedline by a neck in the 1300 metre maiden.

"Dad has always had a good Opinion of this colt and tried to sell him a number of times, but has ended up with him, which might be to our benefit,” said stable foreman Edward Cummings.

"Given what Dad thinks of him, you’ll probably see him go to Melbourne at some point in the spring.”

A $250,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Anthony Cummings from the Milford Thoroughbreds draft, Forget Maybe runs for Anthony and his wife Bernadette and is the first winner for Litowinda, a half-sister by King’s Best (USA) to Group III winner Si Senor and stakes-winner Bello Senor.
