Stakeswinner Burgeis Further Boosts Melbourne Sale

Outstanding racemare BURGEIS ($160,000 2007 Easter, 4m Catbird-Grand Performance) is the latest stakeswinning mare to be entered in the supplementary section for next weeks 2 day Inglis Melbourne August Thoroughbred Sale which begins on Thursday August 13.

After a dominant debut victory at two, BURGEIS went on to run a fast finishing third in the Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes and was amongst the leading pre post Golden Slipper fancies.

To be sold as a racing & breeding proposition, BURGEIS has won over $200,000 in prizemoney which includes victory in the Listed SAJC Proud Miss Stakes in May this year. She is impeccably bred, being from a half sister to STC Golden Slipper winner STRATUM whose first crop make their eagerly awaited racetrack debut this season.

To be offered by Blue Gum Farm as agent, BURGEIS will go under the hammer next Thursday immediately after Lot 131 in the broodmare section of the main catalogue.

This year's renewal of the August Thoroughbred Sale is again shaping as a great catalogue and a parade of first season sires will precede the sale. It will include Group winners KAPHERO, MR MARTINI & RUWI, brother to Champion First Season Sire Not A Single Doubt, EASY CHOICE, as well as the impeccable looking FLORAL PEGASUS, a $500,000 Easter yearling who won the Mercedes Benz Mile Gr1 and earned the title of Champion Griffin in Hong Kong under the care of Tony Cruz.

“At last years sale we sold six mares for $100,000 or over, including Danevade for over $1million, and with the quality of entries we continue to receive I’d expect another strong buying bench next week here at Oaklands” said Inglis Melbourne Director Peter Heagney.

Supplementary Entries will be taken until the close of business tomorrow, Thursday August 6. Nomination Forms can be downloaded HERE.

The sale will be broadcast on Inglis Sale Day live, with Online Bidding and Make-An-Offer available for those buyers unable to make it to Melbourne next week.
