STAR STUDDED EASTER YEARLING SALE CATALOGUE IS NOW ONLINE

12th Feb 2008

The catalogue for the 2008 William Inglis & Son Australian Easter Yearling Sale series is now online. The benchmark sale of the Australian bloodstock industry is in two parts this year, both Select Sessions. Part 1 will be held April 20-22 and Part 2 will be an evening session on April 24. The catalogue for the Easter Classic Session to be held April 27-29 will be published online this Friday.

Rescheduled in 2008 to co-incide with the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and commencing on the Golden Slipper weekend, the sale is once again without peer for quality and sheer weight of numbers by Australasia’s best sires.

Easter Part 1 includes 502 of the best yearlings in Australasia including many siblings to Group 1 winners such as Makybe Diva, Silent Witness, Fashions Afield, God's Own, Alinghi, Stratum, Mnemosyne, Fastnet Rock, Sacred Kingdom, Grand Armee, Aqua D’Amore, Racing To Win, Apercu, Desert Eagle - Grand Delight (HK), Eremien, Hollow Bullet, La Bella Dama, Divine Madonna, Red Dazzler, Shogun Lodge, Hit The Roof, Shinzig and Fairy King Prawn. “We are delighted with the depth of quality at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale and are extremely grateful for the stunning vote of confidence the industry has given the sale by placing so many blue-blooded yearlings to sell in April,” said Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster.

65 stallions are represented by offspring in the Select Sessions and the best are all represented, notably Redoute’s Choice (75), Encosta de Lago (62), Flying Spur (30), Zabeel (23), Red Ransom (11), Anabaa (15), Danehill Dancer (12), Pins (8), Hussonet (9), More Than Ready (24), Stravinsky (3), Royal Academy (11), Cape Cross (9), Elusive Quality (22) and Tale Of The Cat (7) while this season’s current first-season sensation Exceed And Excel has no less than 33 lots, headed by a three-quarter sister to last Saturday’s C F Orr Stakes winner Shinzig and a three-quarter brother to champion Hong Kong sprinter-miler Fairy King Prawn.

The first southern hemisphere yearlings by Group One winners such as Al Maher (21), Charge Forward (12), Fastnet Rock (51), Footstepsinthesand (1), High Chaparral (2), Lion Heart (3), Niello (2), One Cool Cat (4), Refuse To Bend (1), Savabeel (12), Shamardal (14) and Tiger Hill (4) also serve to highlight the diversity and appeal of the catalogue.

Easter Part 2 features an outstanding line up of 195 yearlings including progeny from sires that dominate Part 1 of the sale such as Redoute’s Choice, Encosta de Lago, Exceed And Excel, Flying Spur, Fastnet Rock, Lonhro, Hussonet, Rock of Gibraltar, Savabeel, Anabaa, Danehill Dancer, General Nediym, Red Ransom and Al Maher.

“With graduates from last year’s sale like Wilander, Exceedingly Good, Reaan, Dubai To Sydney and Estee already this season, the interest in what is acknowledged as the benchmark sale for the Australian industry is already enormous,” Webster says, adding “Inglis is the only sales company to sell an Australian Group One winning two-year-old since 2004 and that looks set to continue into the Blue Diamond S.Gr1 in a fortnight.”

Inglis are delighted to announce that Tattersalls and leading international auctioneer John O’Kelly will be selling at the sale.

The Australian Easter Yearling Sale hardcopy catalogue will be distributed next week but is available now for viewing at www.inglis.com.au.
