Starspangledbanner Honoured at Cartier Awards

The Cartier sponsored Horse of the Year awards were held at a ceremony on Tuesday night at the Dorchester Hotel in London, with champion French owned and trained mare Goldikova taking the top honours and Australian bred Starspangledbanner recognized as the Champion Sprinter.

A worthy winner, Goldikova recently won her third consecutive Group I Breeders Cup Mile and is set to race on in 2011.

Coolmore sires provided four of the seven horses honoured with Galileo posting a unique double in siring both the champion two year old colt and filly in Frankel and Misty for Me, US based Giant’s Causeway the champion stayer in Rite of Passage and Aussie bred Choisir the champion sprinter in Starspangledbanner (pictured) , who will stand his first season at Coolmore Ireland this spring.
