STOP PRESS: Sun Classique Sells for $2M

Post sale negotiations this evening have led to star international mare Sun Classique being sold to Patinack Farm for $2million.

The Australian-bred daughter of Fuji Kiseki was a star on the racetrack and she was a star in the sales ring today, with the Newmarket complex coming to a standstill as she strode into the ring.

"She commanded so much presence and it was a privilege to watch her parade today. We're very pleased that a deal has been done this evening and she has commanded a price that a mare of her standing fully deserves ," Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.

Sun Classique won the equivalent of $A4.2m, being a triple Group 1 winning Champion in South Africa and later winning the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic.

Her sale completes the full circle of her ties with the Inglis sales ring. Her dam Elfenjer was sold at this very sale in 2003 - carrying Sun Classique - for $32,500.
