Group I winner Typhoon Zed heads a list of 12 nominations for Sydney’s first weight-for-age of the new racing season at Rosehill on Saturday.

The sprinter is one of two Tim Martin runners entered for the $125,000 Missile Stakes (1100m) with talented mare Teasing also nominated.

Typhoon Zed will be trying to go one better in the Missile after he was beaten a half-length in last year’s race by Captain Bax.

Other notable Missile entries include Gai Waterhouse’s stakes performed Dreamscape, Canterbury Classic winner Gold Trail, Challenge Stakes heroine Olonana, wet track specialist Kroner and the Peter Snowden-trained three-year-old Rarified.

Missile nominations have been extended until Tuesday morning, along with five other races, including the $100,000 Winter Championship.

The $70,000 Rosebud, a lead-up race to the $1 million Golden Rose, has attracted 20 nominations, including Queensland and Victorian entries.

Fear No Other, the Inglis Classic winner trained by Brisbane-based Liam Birchley has been nominated, along with promising Melbourne gallopers Porsched (Mick Price) and Speedy Natalie (Peter Moody).

Sweepstaking, a winner of two races from just three starts for Gold Coast trainer Gillian Heinrich, is also among the entries.
