Bold Plans For Waller’s Star Juvenile

Chris Waller made a clean sweep Queensland’s two-year-old triple crown in 2010 with Inglis graduate Pressday and he’ll try to do it again this year with another in Brazen Beau.

Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible x Sansadee) was a strong winner of today’s first leg, the Group 2 BRC Champagne Classic over 1200m at Doomben. He’ll be the one to beat in the Gr.2 BRC Sires’ Produce (1350m) and Gr.1 BRC JJ Atkins (1600m) over the next four weeks.

“We came here a few years ago with Pressday and he put three wins in a row. There’s no reason why this guy [Brazen Beau] can’t do the same. He’s a high quality colt,” said jockey Nash Rawiller.

Like his leading first season sire I Am Invincible, Brazen Beau is a graduate of the Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale. Brazen Beau was purchased by Ontrack Thoroughbreds for $70,000 from the draft of Murrulla Stud at the 2013 Classic Summer Book.

"His dam was a very good filly which ran third to Exceed And Excel in the Black Opal and I did a fair bit of homework on him leading into the sale," said Grant Morgan, Managing Director of Ontrack Thoroughbreds.

In an ominous sign for the opposition the Waller stable suggested that Brazen Beau is only going to get better as he moves through the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

"These are the three races he has been set for and there is a lot of improvement to come from today. He's a bomb-proof horse who will continue to get better with each run," said Waller Stable foreman Peter Muscatt.

Inglis graduate Moonovermanhattan was the winner of the other stakes race for two-year-olds held in Australia today. In fact Inglis graduates have won all the juvenile black-type races in the Australia this month following the victories last weekend of Cailin Miss and Pressing.

Moonovermanhattan (Manhattan Rain x Lunaspur) took out the Group 3 SAJC Darley National Stakes on debut at Morphettville early on Saturday. The Mick Price trained two-year-old jumped straight on the speed and travelled sweetly for Damien Oliver before pulling out just enough to defeat fellow Inglis graduate Not A Happy Camper by a head.

From the first crop of his Group 1 winning sire Manhattan Rain, Moonovermanhattan was a $100,000 purchase by Dermot Farrington from the draft of Arrowfield Stud at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Inglis Premier graduate Pure Purrfection rounded another successful day when taking out the last race of the day at Doomben over 1110m, the Listed BRC Bribie Handicap.

Pure Purrfection (General Nediym x She's Purring) has been a great honest sprinter for trainer Tony Gollan and the mare’s owners with today black type win adding to her residual value.

A daughter of Listed winning Flying Spur mare She’s Purring, Pure Purrfection was a $160,000 purchase by part-owner C McAlpine from the draft of Widden Stud at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
