Inglis Classic graduate Zin Zan Eddie (Zizou x Exclusive Bid) posted another win for a delighted group of owners today, taking out the Listed ATC Carrington Stakes on the improving track at Royal Randwick over 1400m in convincing fashion.

Zin Zan Eddie pulled away late, and despite having to draw out wide around the turn, the gelding showed real class to move up quickly ahead of field-leader Voilier to win by more than two lengths.

This is the first stakes-win for the gelding, which rewarded trainer Matthew Smith’s confidence in his charge’s ability.

“I kept thinking ‘Eddie’ is very fit and racing well, and we knew he would be competitive against the horses he would meet in the race,” said Smith.

Bred and sold by Stuart Ramsey’s Turangga Farm at the 2011 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Zin Zan Eddie was secured by part-owner Francis Cook for $65,000.

Today Zin Zan Eddie continued to reward that astute judgement, taking his earnings past $420,000 for Cook and his other owners Mrs C M Cook, Mr D J Fairweather, Mrs P Fairweather, Ms S A Sproats, Mr R A Watson, Mr M J Marjoniemi, Mr C Marjoniemi and Mr A Critcher, under the guidance of Jason Collett.

“He relaxed and got going at the right time. It’s great to get a win for (the owners),” said Collett.

“He’s been knocking on the door this horse, and he got his opportunity today,” Collett said.

Turangga Farm will offer Zin Zan Eddie's yearling sister at the 2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale as Lot 531, just one of 575 exceptional types to be offered on 6, 7 and 8 February at Inglis’ Newmarket Complex.
