Easter Colt Commands Attention

The astute eye of James Harron paid dividends again today when his flashy two-year-old colt Attention (Stratum x Flamboyance), took out the Group 3 ATC Schweppervescence Stakes over 1400m at Rosehill. Under the expert guidance of trainers Peter and Paul Snowden, a confident ride by Blake Shinn saw the colt stay well on the speed and hit the line strongly.

"He's always flown under the radar in terms of ability wise. He's a tough nut and he always keeps giving,” said Paul Snowden.

“You don't know how much he's got left when they come at him, but he just keeps giving all the time. He was never going to get run down,” Snowden added.

Attention will now be aimed for a Group 1 win before the season is out, with the $1 million Inglis Sires’ on Day One of The Championships at Royal Randwick on the cards, or the $500,00 Champagne Stakes on 16 April a possible target. Snowden Racing haven’t ruled out the Brisbane Winter Carnival either, with the Group 1 $600,000 JJ Atkins at Doomben in June a possibility for the colt.

Bred and sold by Highgrove Stud, Attention was a $620,000 purchase at last year’s Easter sale, with his precocious physique and well-credentialed pedigree catching Harron’s eye. Already the brother to two-year-old Group 2 performer Flamboyant Lass, Attention’s three-quarter-brother by Snitzel will be offered from Highgrove Stud at the upcoming Inglis Easter Yearling Sale as Lot 306.

Earlier in the day, $32,000 Inglis VOBIS Gold graduate Malaguerra (Magnus x Tennessee Morn) galloped to his fourth straight win this preparation, taking out the Group 3 ATC Star Kingdom Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill. The talented Lee and Anthony Freedman-trained sprinter has earned over $430,000 for owner Bruno Micalizzi who purchased him from the Ballarto Lodge draft at the 2013 sale.

Good Friday Eve saw two Inglis fillies step into Group wins, with Lady Sniper scoring at Gosford and Thames Court winning at Moonee Valley.

‪Inglis Classic‬ purchase Lady Sniper (Snippetson x Lady Titus) is the most recent Inglis Race Series victor to step into black type, taking out the Listed Gosford Guineas today for trainer Bjorn Baker Racing. The filly was a dominant winner of the inaugural $250,000 Inglis Sprint at Royal Randwick in December, and showed similar class today to defeat a well-credentialed field. Originally a $20,000 purchase for Boomer Bloodstock International, she has now earned in excess of $300,000.

Thames Court (Commands x Pantenny) swooped in to claim the Group 3 MVRC Alexandra Stakes over 1600m. The three-year-old was a $275,000 purchase for Salanitri Racing at the 2014 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the Eliza Park Stud darft, and has now won three of her six career starts for trainer David Brideoake.
