Three-year-old Fastnet Rock colt South Africa topped today’s Inglis Winter Thoroughbred Sale in Sydney selling for $100,000 to John Thompson.
South Africa is out of Group 2 winning Testa Rossa mare Vormista and was offered for sale having trialled behind the likes of Astern and Winning Rupert last season.
Randwick trainer John Thompson signed for the colt after outlasting Bill Mitchell of Segenhoe Thoroughbreds and multiple other under bidders.
30 lots were sold at a clearance rate of 88% at the Winter Thoroughbred Sale, with an average price of $13,050 and media price of $10,500 recorded for the day.
Attention now turns to the 2016 Inglis August Thoroughbred Sale in Melbourne on Friday 19 August 2016. 185 lots have been accepted into the main catalogue, while supplementary entries close next Friday 12 August at 5pm sharp.
