23rd Oct 2006
The 2006 2 & 3YO Breeze Up Sale will commence this Thursday, 26 October with the actual Breeze Up sessions to take place on the purpose built track at the Oaklands complex. Starting at 11am, the sessions are open to the general public, with copies of the Breeze Ups available on DVD from early Friday morning, while footage can also be viewed online.
Numerous updates have occurred since the catalogue went to print along with the fact that the winners catalogued in previous year’s sales continue to flow. Friday’s win of JUST GRAND (2004 Ready To Run, $25,000) over 1900m at Canterbury highlighted the versatility of the Breeze Up Sale Graduates. Both JUST GRAND and Wednesday’s victor SEA BATTLE (2005 Ready To Run, $15,000) who won over 1400m are both lightly raced and have already paid connections back their purchase price, the former galloper being stakes placed over the Brisbane Winter carnival in the Gr. 3 QTC Grand Prix Stakes.
A quick glance through the catalogue will notice that Lot 8, a Hussonet (USA) colt offered by Wadham Park Bloodstock now contains Viewed, a Scenic colt who appears in the 2nd dam who recently gained a stakes placing in the Listed AJC Dulcify Quality. Lot 31, a filly by Manner Hill offered by Northwood Pastoral is from a half-sister to Exinite the recent Gr. 3 AJC Queen’s Cup winner. Having scored 5 wins and over $180,000 in prize money, this filly will be highly sought after.
Widden Stud as agent will offer Lot 46, a bay colt from leading European sire Invincible Spirit (IRE). Last start Gr. 1 Caulfield Guineas runner up Excites now adds further credence to the 2nd dam of the pedigree. The sole Redoute’s Choice offering in the catalogue, Lot 123 to be offered by Wadham Park Bloodstock is a half-brother to the talented Sonic Quest (Quest For Fame GB)) Trained by Lee Freedman, he has had 5 starts for 2 wins, being in the money in the remaining three.
Lot 129, one of over 20 lots offered by leading Victorian nursery Eliza Park as agent, sees further black type added to this international based pedigree. Adorable Lydia, a daughter of stakes winner Exceptional Ride, is now the dam of Gr. 2 winner Northern Soldier.
The sale will commence at 12 mid-day on Sunday, 29 October where a quality catalogue of over 140 ready-made gallopers will make their way through the sale ring. Held the day after the W.S. Cox Plate, a large crowd is sure to be in attendance in what will be buyers next opportunity to lay their hands on possibly the next RACING TO WIN or MISS FINLAND.
