Turnover at the 2013 Inglis Great Southern Sale pushed past $3million on today’s third and final day at Oaklands in Melbourne.
“The sale ended on a very strong note with good demand for horses in the racehorse section, something for which the Melbourne sales have become recognised for,” said Inglis Melbourne Director Peter Heagney.
“Although the broodmare section showed the soft demand at the lower end of the market, the racehorse section continued to attract spirited bidding with many new buyers appearing on the result sheets,” said Heagney.
In all 448 lots were sold from Tuesday to Thursday for a total gross of $3,114,650. The clearance rate remained at a steady 77% by the end of day three.
“A highlight at the end of the sale was popular long time Inglis employee Ian Baird auctioning the last lot of the day before his forthcoming retirement in July,” Heagney pointed out.
