$50K Bonus goes off at Hawkesbury

The Gary Portelli trained Offshore Sham lived up to her excellent debut run in stakes grade to land a $50,000 Bonus at Hawkesbury today.

OFFSHORE SHAM ($32,500 2009 Classic, 2f Shamardal-Staten Island) had run a close up fifth in Listed grade on debut at Randwick and proved too good for her rivals in the Reavill Farm-Inglis Series 2YO Handicap (1200m).

In addition to the $50,000 race series bonus, Offshore Sham also picked up $42,000 first prizemoney.

Runner-up Woodrow was purchased out of the Scone Yearling Sale for just $6000 and the Al Maher gelding will now head to the $100,000 Inglis Challenge at Scone on May 14 as one of the leading chances.

The 2010 Scone Select Yearling Sale will be held over two days this year, on May 13 and 16.

TABULATE ($12,000 2005 June Weanling, 5g Honours List-Shurban) will now be aimed at stronger races over the remainder of the carnival after landing a stakes breakthrough in the Listed Tails Stakes at Eagle Farm today. He is now the winner of more than $200,000 with eight wins in 29 starts.

Today’s win was his fourth in succession – a rare feat on city tracks – and trainer Rob Heathcote will now aim him at races like the Ipswich and Tattersalls Cups later in the carnival.

Tabulate was knocked down to Paul Willets from the Widden Stud draft and began his career in New Zealand before transferring to the Heathcote stable.

The next opportunity to purchase an Inglis Weanling comes up at the Melbourne Great Southern Weanling Sale at Oaklands on May 17 and 18.

Attention will then turn to Sydney, where Newmarket hosts the Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale in June.

Later, NEESON (P$65,000 2008 Easter II, 3g Mossman-Favorite Actress) tasted stakes success for a second time when proving a class above in the Listed Hawkesbury Guineas.

The Joe Pride trained gelding has now won six races in just 13 starts for earnings of $300,000.
