Aided by some good quality unreserved drafts, the opening session of the 2010 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale topped the $8million mark on Day 1.
A total of 166 mares were sold during the opening session, with the Toorak Park Stud Dispersal providing the day’s highlights.
Group 1 winner Serious Speed (pictured) topped the session, selling to Patinack Farm for $900,000.
Rebel Raider and Shamoline Warrior’s dam Picholine (Dehere) sold for $440,000.
“We had a number of dispersals today and that helped the clearance rate. We appreciate the support of those vendors, in particular Toorak Park, who afforded us the opportunity to offer some lovely mares today,” Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.
“But what the first session really highlighted is the great value on offer at the moment and I urge buyers to take advantage of that market over the remaining three days.
“Even if you can’t make it to the sale grounds, our Sale Day live and online bidding services provide everyone with the opportunity to be a part of the sale.”
Webster also pointed out that all mares passed in today are available via the Inglis Make an Offer service.
The sale continues tomorrow from 10.30am.
