Champion sire Redoute's Choice celebrated his 84th stakeswinner at Randwick on Saturday when Maules Creek drove home along the rail to win the Listed Randwick City Quality.
It was the 4YO gelding's fourth win in an 11 start career and only the second time he had appeared in black type company following his last start third in the Listed Parramatta Cup on March 3.
Maules Creek is the ninth Australian stakeswinner for Redoute's Choice this season and his 12th stakeswinner worldwide in 2011/12.
He was purchased for $400,000 by Patinack Farm from the Tyreel Stud draft at the 2009 Inglis Australian Easter Sale.
It was fitting his first stakes win should come on the same day as the running of the New Zealand Oaks at Trentham as that classic was won by his dam Bramble Rose (Shinko King) in 2003.
He is from the family of the outstanding New Zealand weight-for-age performer and G1 winner The Filbert, best remembered for his third placings in the Cox Plate and Japan Cup.
A fourth son Not A Single Doubt includes the Singapore G1 winner Always Certain among his eight stakeswinners.
Duelled added a new stakeswinner to his record when his 4YO Guns At Five (ex Accidentallyinlove by Cape Cross) won the NZ St Leger at Trentham on Saturday.
Duelled, himself a G2 winner and second in Benicio's Victoria Derby, also supplied the third placegetter Endor.
Guns At Five descends from another St Leger winner, the fine racemare Chaleyer, winner of the G2 AJC St Leger and placed three times at G1 level in the Sydney Cup, VRC Oaks and Canterbury Guineas.
Her non-winning daughters have produced three Group winners: Marrok, Appeal Process and Sworn To Secrecy.
Her grand-daughter Accidentallyinlove also failed to win, but has extended the family's black type record with her first foal to race.
