85% Clearance Across The 2015 Inglis Select Yearling Sale Series

The 2015 Inglis Select Yearling Sale Series has drawn to a close with 2019 yearlings sold by Australia’s leading thoroughbred auction house across their six sales at an overall clearance of 85%.

“I would like to thank our vendors who entrusted us to get the best possible result for their yearlings, and to our purchasing clients who helped us to achieve a clearance rate in excess of 80% at each of our Select Yearling Sales in 2015,” said Inglis’ Managing Director Mark Webster.

Numerous sales records were set across our select auctions in Sydney, Melbourne and Scone, with clients bringing yearling drafts from New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and New Zealand to sell under the Inglis banner.

A record-breaking Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in February set the precedent for an outstanding year, setting new highs for gross, clearance and average for the sale.

The Inglis Premier Yearling Sale continued its upward spiral setting new record average and median prices, plus a seventh consecutive rise in gross receipts to new record levels.

Greatness was achieved at Australia’s benchmark yearling sale, the Inglis Easter Sale, with Session I statistics hitting seven year highs and Session II setting more records.

The VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale improved for the third consecutive year since its inception grossing 37% more than in its founding year, and the HTBA Scone Yearling Sale closed the series with a clearance rate of 89%.

“We catalogued 2% more yearlings than last year but thanks to an exceptional 85% clearance rate and 17% rise in average price we have been able to bring in gross receipts for our vendors up 24% to $186 million. I would like to thank the vendors, buyers and all Inglis staff for the tremendous team effort that has led to us achieving growth and clearance that is well ahead of the Australasian market,” Webster added.

Five continents were represented on the Inglis Select Yearling Sale Series buying bench, with many high-profile international clients making their foray into the Australian market via Inglis’ Select Yearling Sales Series.

“The racetrack success of Inglis graduates and Australian-bred horses both domestically and internationally has attracted the interest of the leading players in the thoroughbred world, and we look forward to hosting them again at our Inglis Bloodstock Sales in the future,” said Inglis’ National Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy.

“Our bloodstock team is already out on the road inspecting the current crop of weanlings that will be carefully selected into the Inglis Yearling Sale series in 2016. Any breeder that would like some advice on where their yearlings would be best placed in 2016 are encouraged to call our friendly bloodstock staff in Sydney and Melbourne or Michael Otto and Michael Wallace in New Zealand and we are only too happy to come and inspect the weanlings on their farms.
