94% Clearance In Melbourne

The one-day Inglis Melbourne December Thoroughbred Sale held at Oaklands today saw more than $840,000 traded at an excellent clearance rate of 94%.

In all, 206 horses sold today, with just 13 passed in, for a sale total of $846,650.

The sale was topped by Street Cry gelding North Street, who fetched $34,000 after being a supplementary entry to the sale.

The Supplementary also supplied the day’s third highest priced lot, with Anabaa gelding Arondight selling for $24,000.

Earlier, the unraced Old Spice mare Another Special brought $24,500. The full-sister to four times G1 winner Old Comrade was carrying a positive test to young Eliza Park stallion Magnus.

“Today’s sale was typical of what we have seen at most of our thoroughbred auctions this year, with potential racehorses and breeding prospects keenly sought after,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.

“Every state and territory in Australia was represented in the successful buyers’ list, which meant there was strong competition across the board throughout the sale.”

Today’s sale brings to a close Inglis’ 2009 sales, with attention now turning to the 2010 round of yearling sales.

Catalogues for both the Sydney Classic Sale (January 24-25) and Melbourne Premier Sale (March 1-4) are now online.

The annual Easter Sale Preview, featuring pedigrees of yearlings listed under their respective sire, is also now online.

Summer racing in Sydney heats up tomorrow, with Inglis Villiers Day, with highlights being the G2 Inglis Villiers Stakes and inaugural $250,000 Inglis Nursery for two-year-olds.
