A new Classic Yearling Sale price record was just one of many amazing feats on a spectacular opening night of selling at Riverside Stables.
In a memorable evening:
*The first ever Lot was sold at Riverside Stables, a Shooting To Win x Raheights colt from Torryburn Stud selling to Yulong/Mick Price Racing for $190,000.
*The top Lot was Lot 76 (Brazen Beau x Written Dash), a colt from Tyreel Stud purchased by Orbis Bloodstock for a Classic Sale record price of $480,000.
*15 Lots sold for $200,000 or more, eclipsing the record set last year at 10 on the same night.
*The Gold Riband session was an overwhelming success again, averaging $163,571 with a clearance rate of a staggering 95%.
After night 1 of selling, the overall sale average sits at $132,970 with a clearance rate of 89% and gross of $13,430,000.
Of the vendors to sell three or more Lots, Carramar park enjoyed the highest average of $225,833, while leading vendor by aggregate was Yarraman Park with $1,017,500 from five Lots sold.
Kavanagh Racing was leading buyer, purchasing seven Lots at an aggregate of $775,000 and average of $110,000.
Yarraman Park stallion I Am Invincible was leading sire, with five of his progeny selling for a total of $1,635,000 at an average of $$327,000.
Linda Monds of Tyreel Stud was thrilled to have offered the top Lot during Gold Riband for the second consecutive year.
“He was an outstanding individual that was faultless. There was absolutely nothing that could be criticised of him,’’ Monds said.
“I want to thank Inglis for giving us the opportunity to come to this sale and I want to congratulate Inglis on what they have done with this new complex. It’s remarkable. I’m an extremely proud vendor and proud to be associated with Inglis.’’
Justin Bahen, Orbis’ Director of Racing and Bloodstock, described the Brazen Beau top Lot as “stunning’’.
“And he was as active tonight as he was at the start of the week,’’ Bahen said.
“I think Brazen Beau is a quality stallion on the way up and this colt, he had such a strong hind quarter and a good brain which I think is most important.’’
Inglis’ Managing Director Mark Webster was proud of tonight’s achievements.
“This sale has gone to new strengths and I think the buyers are seeing that,’’ Webster said.
“We had the Golden Slipper winner and runner up last year and people are paying attention to the Classic sale.’’
