Inglis will be providing vendors with a new way forward to market their yearlings in 2013, with the Sydney Classic Yearling Sale to be split into two books; a Summer Book and a Winter Book.
The Summer Book of the 2013 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale will be offered on Sunday 20 January and Monday 21 January at Newmarket in Sydney. The Winter Book will be offered at the same location on Sunday 23 June next year, just prior to the Inglis Australian Weanling and Bloodstock Sale.
“Buyers and vendors are faced with a busy yearling sale schedule at the start of each year, with the new changes to Classic brought about to assist both parties,” Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy points out.
“The Winter Book will give vendors a viable alternative to market those yearlings that might not be suited to an early sale, and others that are withdrawn from earlier select sales for various reasons. Buyers, especially syndicators, have encouraged us to have a later sale in Sydney to more evenly spread the flow of yearlings onto the market, and to provide them with a product to syndicate in the second half of each year.
“The two day Summer Book will continue to provide breeders with an outstanding opportunity to offer up the typical mature and early types that have helped put Classic on the map,” D’Arcy said.

Inglis’ Bloodstock team, led by D’Arcy, put a lot of emphasis on selecting the right type of yearling for Classic each year and that successful formula will be put into practice again into 2013 to compile a Summer and Winter Book to suit buyer demands.
“Attractive types, especially by young sires, are always in high demand at Classic, as they have provided buyers with great success on the racetrack from the sale,” D’Arcy adds.
“With the first and second crops of Champion gallopers from Australia, New Zealand, USA, France, United Kingdom and Ireland all set to be offered by Inglis next year our team will be out to ensure Classic’s outstanding record continues,” D’Arcy added.
Group 1 winners purchased from the first or second crop of stallions at Classic in recent years include Whobegotyou (Street Cry), Carry On Cutie (More Than Ready), God’s Own (Redoute’s Choice), Secret Admirer (Dubawi), Hurtle Myrtle (Dane Shadow), Pressday (Domesday) and Manawanui (Oratorio (IRE)).
The Classic Sale schedule unveiled today is one of several 2013 Inglis Select Yearling Sale Series initiatives set to be announced this week.
