Allez Wonder Cracks $1Million at Newmarket

The second day of this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale was highlighted when Bart Cummings’ Toorak Handicap winner Allez Wonder sold for an even $1million.

Prepared for sale by Princes Farm, Patinack Farm won out in the end for the daughter of Redoute’s Choice, who is yet to go to stud.

The seven figure sale helped today’s second day to a near $10million gross at an average of $88,000, which is slightly up from day 2 last year.

The overall sale has now grossed $18million at an average of $75,685, but the clearance rate was again well down on expectations today.

Post sale negotiations saw the Group 1 placed Galileo mare Banc De Fortune sold to James Bester Bloodstock for $800,000 after originally being passed in through the ring.

Bester knows the mare well, having secured the daughter of 1997 AJC Oaks winner Danendri out of the same ring at the 2005 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on behalf of clients for $275,000. Banc De Fortune was sold in foal to Redoute’s Choice.

New Zealand Oaks winner Boundless fetched $700,000 to the bid of Paul Willets. She was sold carrying a positive test to top New Zealand sire Pins.

Group 3 winning Zabeel mare Bhandara also broke through the half million dollar mark today, selling to Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock with a positive test to Fastnet Rock for $600,000.

“Demand for well-credentialed fillies and mares continues to be very strong” said Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster

“Over the years this sale has proven to reward buyers with the dams of champions such as Black Caviar, Sepoy and So You Think.

“They collectively cost less than $200,000.

“No doubt there are a few of these bargain mares in this catalogue once again.”

The sale concludes with tomorrow's third session, which includes the Supplementary Catalogue which is highlighted by Group 1 Sydney Cup winner Jessicabeel and flying filly Chance Bye.

Horses passed in during the first two days can still be purchased via the Inglis Make an Offer service.

Tomorrow’s third and final session can again be viewed on Inglis Sale Day Live with Online Bidding for those unable to attend.
