Another Big Day Out At Oaklands

3rd Mar 2005

Forget the Grand Prix this weekend as the race was on at Oaklands Junction today, with a big crowd showing a keen interest for all classes of bloodstock. Buyers certainly had the forth coming breeding season in mind with strong bidding for mares in foal to, or with foals at foot by exciting young sires Bel Esprit, Testa Rossa, Delago Brom & Distant Music.

With a total of 337 lots on offer, an excellent clearance rate of 91% was achieved for a gross amount of $1,698,700. with the average of $6,386. well above expectations.

In the racehorse section duel metropolitan winning Encosta de Lago mare ‘Costalette’ ignited strong bidding selling for $120,000 to Geelong trainer Jamie Edwards.

Victorian Manager Peter Heagney commented, “Indicative of the success of this sale was the excellent clearance rate of over 91%. There was good bidding on most lots & the better credentialed horses sold well above expectations”.

All eyes are now focused on the Australian Easter Yearling sale at Newmarket at the end of the month, to be followed by the Autumn Yearling sale in Melbourne on April 17th & 18th .
