Another lucrative win for Diamond Earth

The Anthony Cummings trained Diamond Earth collected another lucrative stake when taking the $140,000, Arrowfield 2YO Fillies Handicap (1100m) at Scone on Saturday after leading all the way under Peter Robl.

Villa Splendido (Holy Roman Emperor) carrying 55kg with Sam Clipperton’s 2k claim was second with Write Cheek (Written Tycoon) carrying 52kg with Anthony Allen’s 3kg claim in third.

The margins were 3/4L and 1/2L with the time 1.04.41 on the Good 3 track with the final 600m in 35.43. Diamond Earth paid $6.10 on NSW TAB.

"They don’t come much better as far as two-year-olds,” said Cummings. "Apart from not winning a stakes race she’s done everything you’d want.

"She’s raced throughout the season and just keeps turning up,” he said.

"She’s just so genuine and honest,” said Robl. "There’s nothing of her but she’s just dynamite.

"She helps herself when you ride her for speed because she’s that quick the first 100 [metres] that she makes everybody's mind up so they don’t take her on.

"Then you come back, have some easy sectionals, then when you give a squeeze she gives for you again.

"She’s a credit to herself, just a lovely filly and a pleasure to ride,” he said.

Diamond Earth won two Inglis Race Series evetns earlier in the season, the $250,000 Inglis Juvenile at Moonee Valley over 1000m on October 22nd and the $250,000 Inglis Nursery at Warwick Farm over the same distance on December 17th.

With a second at Rosehill on January 21st she had previous earnings of $378,300 and she added a further $84,000 for Saturday’s win.

Cummings paid $60,000 for Diamond Earth, by Choisir out of the Strategic mare Face Of The Earth, out of the draft of Golden Grove, as agent, at the 2011 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale.

She is part owned by Cummings through his AC Thoroughbreds along with J Barton, M Barton, J Salter, M Dykstra, Mrs G Coady, G Coady, Miss R Coady, Miss A Coady and the Doubledown Syndicate managed by S Marshall.
