When Oratorio sires a stakes-winner in Western Australia we tend to assume it's Australian bred Oratorio, but in the case of Miss Solis it was Irish bred Oratorio (IRE).
The Simon Miller trained Miss Solis hit top form at her second run back from a spell to down another smart filly Darlington Abbey by half a head in a thrilling finish to the Listed WATC Belgravia Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.
A $32,000 purchase for Aquanita Racing from the Manx Park draft at the 2011 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale, Miss Solis has won five of nine starts and $267,400 in prizemoney for her lucky owners Ray Meadowcroft and Peter Bell.
A stakes-winner last season at two, Miss Solis is one of 24 stakes-winners for Danehill's triple Group I winning son Oratorio, who is serving his last season at stud in Australia for Coolmore at a fee of $11,000 having been sold to South Africa.
Bred by Rob Caruso, Miss Solis is the second foal of Sydney metropolitan winner Longoria, who comes from the family of Melbourne Cup winner Jezabeel.
Longoria has already foaled this spring, producing a filly by Dylan Thomas (IRE) at Manx Park.
