Archer back in Stakes winning groove

Golden Archer, one of the most durable juveniles of last season, was back in stakes winning form at Caulfield today, leading off a stakes double for Inglis graduates at the meeting.

GOLDEN ARCHER ($80,000 2010 Easter, 3c Rock Of Gibraltar-Viennetta) made it six wins in nine starts when winning the Group 3 McNeil Stakes.

The Sefton Park graduate is now a four times stakes winner with earnings topping $400,000.

Later, one of Melbourne’s most in form gallopers made it four wins on end when stepping up to stakes grade for the first time.

TESTASCANA ($80,000 2008 Premier, 5g Testa Rossa-Tuscanna) was rewarded for his outstanding winter when breaking through for a maiden stakes success in the Listed National Jockeys Celebration Day Stakes (1700m).

The Peter Moody trained galloper now has the enviable record of nine wins in 17 starts for earnings of $260,000.

Other notable Inglis performers today included:

AND ROCK ($100,000 2010 Premier, 3f Fastnet Rock-Bee And Gee) upset hot favourite Plucky Belle to land a strong win in 3YO fillies grade

EMERALD DOWNS ($135,000 2010 Premier, 3f Churchill Downs-Spirit Of Grace) lived up to her strong two-year-old formlines when beating older mares first up at Rosehill. The Anthony Cummings trained filly had previously run second in the rich Inglis Premier, which was taken out by subsequent Blue Diamond placegetter Masthead.

INTO THE SUN ($5750 2006 June Weanling, 6g Grass Wonder-Slamdance) continued his recent run of hot form when transferring to the Sydney way of going at Rosehill. This was Into The Sun’s 10th win, with his earnings now standing at $180,000.
