Arctic Glamour tops July (Late) Sale at $640,000

Today’s Inglis Digital July (Late) sale-topper Arctic Glamour is set for a date with Zoustar this spring after selling to Julia Ritchie and Widden Stud for $640,000.

Offered by trainers Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, who had purchased her as a yearling at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Arctic Glamour performed admirably through a race career that yielded a G2 win, a G1 placing and earnings in excess of $1m.

“We’ve had a lot of luck selling horses through Inglis Digital for quite a while now,’’ Alexiou said.

“It’s a great outcome for the owners.’’

Ritchie said she was first alerted to Arctic Glamour’s sale when she logged into her computer on Saturday morning.

“I received the ad that your marketing team sent out and she piqued my interest straight away and I thought that she’s a mare I need to look at and within 24 hours [Widden Stud boss] Antony [Thompson] messaged me asking if I had looked into her, so great minds think alike,’’ Ritchie said.

“Today it was touch and go, we were terrified who we might be up against and we really only had $600,000 for her. We held the bid at that amount and then with 10 seconds to go another bid came through at $620,000 so we decided to have one more bid but we were out if the other party went again but thankfully they didn’t.

“Zoustar will be a great match for her. You watch her race history and she’s got an engine in there, she’s been very competitive at G1 level which is what you like to see and I think she’ll make a beautiful broodmare.’’

Today’s second-top lot was the broodmare Monegal (in foal to Stay Inside), which sold to Sheralee Racing for $260,000.

Monegal was offered by Clarke Bloodstock as agent for Ridgmont.

Ridgmont’s Mitch Cunningham described the result as “fabulous’’.

“She made well above her reserve,’’ Cunningham said.

“Inglis has provided us with a fantastic marketplace in which to trade in and out of horses and we love the regularity of the sales, these mares always make their money on Inglis Digital.’’

The third-top lot honours were shared by Perth race mare Madhi Girl and the broodmare You Send Me (in foal to Starman), both selling for $215,000.

You Send Me was offered by Yarraman Park on behalf of Craig Bernick, whose Australian-based representative Will Johnson was delighted with the result.

“We’re really happy with the price, she made over double her reserve,’’ Johnson said.

“Inglis Digital sure makes for an entertaining Wednesday afternoon with the monitors up. Just when you think it’s going to be knocked down, it never fails to surprise.’’

In total 11 lots realised $100,000 or more in today’s July (Late) Sale, the others being Trapani ($170,000 to Mullaglass Stud), Wintery ($145,000 to Aaron Purcell), Dolce Vita ($140,000 to Laird Morgan), Enterprise Pomme ($140,000 to Blue Gum Farm and Suman Hedge), Sting In The Tail ($120,000 to Mustica Bloodstock), Extremely Wicked ($115,000 to Mustica Bloodstock) and La Bella Boom ($105,000 to Harry McAlpine).

It takes to 205 the number of six-figure lots sold through Inglis Digital since 2025.

In total the auction grossed $4,295,850

Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital August (Early) Sale, which will run from August 7-12.

Entries will close at midnight next Wednesday, August 5.
