Oaklands was extremely well attended with enthusiastic buyers from all over the country today for the August Thoroughbred Sale in Melbourne. Buyers and vendors were not disappointed, with 231 horses generating gross receipts of $1,589,650 for an average of $6,882 at an excellent clearance rate of 87%, an impressive increase in all categories from last year.
The Racehorse section produced the two main highlights of today’s trade. Sale-topper lot 174 Apaiser , the Dieu D’or race filly out of Elecampagne (NZ) was knocked down to Talwood Park Racing, Victoria for $150,000. Lot 224, the Charnwood Forest gelding, Forest Knight was knocked down to B Driscoll for $100,000.
As expected, t he Broodmare section proved popular with bidders. Amatila a mare by Redoute’s Choice from Amber Heights was sold for $65,000 and Amber Lodge secured lot 176 Zolletta, the Zabeel filly out of Pepite D’or, also for $65,000.

The high clearance rate should give confidence to vendors and purchasers in the lead up to the Inglis Breeze Up Sale on Sunday 29 th October”.
