August Thoroughbred Sale This Friday

14th Aug 2007

This Friday, August 17 will see the 2007 William Inglis & Son August Thoroughbred Sale commence at 10am with the first of over 350 lots of broodmares, unbroken stock, yearlings and stallions, coupled with a significant offering of race fillies and colts/geldings.

With a record number of entries received for an August Thoroughbred sale, the addition of the 64 lots in the Supplementary Catalogue ensures that the selection on offer will cater to all levels of buying.

Champion racemare Let's Elope's (NZ) daughter Paris Tryst is sure to be a sale highlight.

The day will begin with the parading of a selection of Victoria’s First Season Sires. “We are delighted that the owners of nine of the 11 first season sires in Victoria have accepted the invitation to parade their stallions prior to the sale. It is an excellent opportunity for broodmare owners to inspect these stallions in the one central location before we start the season”, stated William Inglis & Son Director Peter Heagney.

Churchill Downs, Danerich, Econsul (NZ), Enemy of Average, Man Of Illusion, Pendragon (NZ), Primus, Witherwings and Written Tycoon are sure to create plenty of interest as they parade through the ring. Heagney indicated, “The parade will commence at 9.15 and then the stallions will remain at Oaklands for a few hours to enable breeders to discuss the attractive service deals that the stallion owners will be offering.”

Breeders keen to capitalise on the stallion parade will have the prime opportunity to purchase one of the 130 mares on offer before the start of the new breeding season and then arrange a service to one of these stallions before the mare has even left the complex.

One of the most interesting lots in the entire sale comes mid-way through the day in the shape of Paris Tryst, Lot 200. Entered in the race fillies section, Paris Tryst is a daughter of champion mare Let’s Elope (NZ) and is by Fusaichi Pegasus (USA). Offered as part of a Dispersal Sale by Seven Creeks Estate, another bonus to the pedigree of the filly is that she is also a half-sister to Group Two MVRC AAMI Vase winner Ustinov, as well as the stakes performed pair of Caught Courting and Yes I Will (USA).

An interesting addition to the Supplementary Catalogue on behalf of Lindsay Park Racing Pty Ltd is the European Stakes winner Defining (GB). Entering the ring as Lot 353, the recent Sandown winner has the credentials to suit races over longer trips.
