Kia Ora Stud have been on a roll of late with a stream of winners emerging from the Hunter Valley based farm, the latest to salute being two year-old filly Roczinta, who scored at Durbanvill ein South Africa on Wednesday.
A $50,000 purchase for James Bester Bloodstock from the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, the Justin Snaith trained Roczinta (pictured as a yearling) opened her account with a length and three-quarter win over 1600 metres against older fillies and mares.
By accomplished shuttler Rock of Gibraltar (IRE), Roczinta is the third foal of Zabeel mare Zazinta, a daughter of Group 1 AJC Flight Stakes winner Danarani.
Kia Ora Stud will be cheering on superstar filly Igugu this weekend, the daughter of Galileo (IRE) set to tackle the Group 1 Vodacom Durban July Handicap, South Africa’s greatest race in which she has drawn barrier 10 in a field of 20.
Igugu was bred and sold by Kia Ora fetching $65,000 at the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
