Australian Black Type Listings

The Australian Pattern Committee (APC) met today for its annual end-of-season meeting. The APC has made a number of recommendations to the Australian Racing Board as follows:

Races recommended for upgrade:

•TL Baillieu Handicap – Randwick, 1400m, 2yo Hcp to Group 3
•Doncaster Prelude (Royal Parma Stakes) – Rosehill, 1600m, 2+ QHcp to Group 3
•Aurie's Star Handicap – Flemington, 1200m, 2+ Hcp to Group 3
•JRA Cup – Moonee Valley, 2040m, 2+ QHcp to Group 3
•Chairman’s Stakes – Morphettville, 2000m, 3yo SW to Group 3

Races recommended for elevation to Listed status:

•August Sprint – Caulfield, 1200m, 3+ Hcp
•Perri Cutten Plate – Caulfield, 2000m, 3yo Fillies Hcp
•Galiliee Series Final – Flemington, 2500m, 3yo Hcp
•Roy Higgins Quality – Flemington, 2600m, 3yo Hcp
•Fillies Plate – Moonee Valley, 1200m, 3yo Fillies Hcp
•The Rosebud – Rosehill, 1200m, 3yo Qty
•Fireball Handicap – Rosehill, 1100m 3yo Hcp
•Gold Edition Plate – Eagle Farm, 1200m, 3yo SW
•Northam Cup – Northam, 1600m 3+ QHcp
•Bunbury Patrons Plate - Bunbury, 1400m, 3yo Hcp

The APC meeting also considered a number of issues relating to its procedures, international protocols and race club naming of black type races, including:

•The ARB’s endorsement of a Code of Conduct for APC members
•The role of the Asian Racing Federation Grading & Racing Planning Committee
•The international pyramid system
•The naming of black type races other then using their registered race names.
